Cardiology In General Practice: Radiographs, ECGs & Cardiac Biomarkers

Abstract: This 2-hour webinar will review basic diagnostics that can be performed in general practice to screen for and diagnose cardiovascular disease. The subjective and objective interpretation of thoracic radiographs will be reviewed with a focus on specific indications for initiating therapy. Basic intepretation of ECGs and common arrhythmias and their treament will also be covered. Finally, the utility of cardiac biomarkers as a screening tool will be briefly discussed.
Biography: Dr. Nathan Boyd received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. After graduation, he completed a small animal rotating internshp at the University of Minnesota, followed by a cardiology specialty internship at Kansas State University. He then finished his cardiology training doing a three-year residency with the Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates in Virginia. After becoming board-certified, Dr. Boyd relocated to Edmonton with his partner.
